Utah Valley University

Since the early 1970s, RB&G has provided geotechnical engineering for many buildings on campus for this fast-growing university which has had several name transitions since it opened over 70 years ago. Some of the past projects include Noorda Theatre, Digital Learning Center, Pedestrian Tunnel, West Campus Small Business Development, and the baseball stadium on the UVU campus.

STUDENT LIFE AND WELLNESS CENTER AND PARKING STRUCTURE
The project entailed geotechnical tasks for the 4-level building with over 300,000 square feet of floor space and adjacent 5-level parking structure. Ground improvement was required to mitigate seismic liquefaction and lateral spread hazards. Foundations included micropiles adjacent to existing structures and spread footings on improved ground (vibro-replacement stone columns).

POPE SCIENCE CENTER
Geotechnical design was completed the 3-story addition on the west end of campus which was completed in 2012. RB&G also provided services for the original investigation in the 1980s.
