Salt Lake City International Airport Terminal Redevelopment Program
With the Airport serving over 26 million passengers a year, an extensive 10-year redevelopment program was introduced by Salt Lake City for the major global aviation western hub. RB&G was the geotechnical designer and engineer of record for the project which included a new terminal, concourses, underground connectors, apron paving, parking garage, rental car facilities, elevated departures roadway/bridge, central utility plant, and light rail. RB&G designed the foundations for the new parking structure and terminal buildings, and assisted with construction oversight and submittal reviews for foundations of the terminal, parking structure, South Concourse, and connector tunnel. RB&G also performed quality assurance and testing of the stone column and driven pile installation for foundations of the terminal and parking structure. Our geotechnical engineers with many years of airport experience performed the investigations and foundation design analysis for the new North Concourse and UTA TRAX Bridge Settlement, including stability monitoring of embankments for a new elevated departures roadway. As major sections continue to open up, the project is scheduled for full completion in 2024.
